The productive structure of the Province of Alicante shown in the chart highlights the significant weight of the service sector (71%), particularly the hospitality subsector (11%).
The construction sector, accounting for 14% of the total productive structure of the Province of Alicante, ranks second in terms of importance. However, construction activity has currently declined significantly, leading to a notable decrease in its contribution to the provincial GDP.
Traditional industrial sectors in Alicante, such as footwear, textiles, toys, nougat, ceramics and marble, are mostly characterised by low energy intensity in terms of consumption. This is evidenced by the fact that only 16% of the final energy consumed has been used by industry in the Province of Alicante.
