ENERINTUR PROJECT
The Alicante Provincial Energy Agency was set up in 2010 – it was promoted and backed by the Alicante Provincial Council– and the first objective was to work on the ENERINTUR Project (Smart Energy for Tourism), which was co-financed with the European programme fund “Intelligent Energy”. ENERINTUR was an energy planning and management tool that coordinated activities with the local authorities, companies and social economy actors to promote the intelligent use of Energy through activities and campaigns aimed at increasing the energy efficiency, energy savings and promote clean and renewable resources. It also focused on the sustainable development of the province and energy use rationalization in the tourism sector.
Although the project ended in 2016, the Energy Agency continues to work in areas such as energy efficiency, renewable energy and green building by organising activities that optimize energy systems, especially locally and provide technical support to the town and city councils to improve energy efficiency in their municipal facilities (for example: through the Provincial Energy Saving Plan and the Financially Sustainable Investment of the Alicante Provincial Council).
Furthermore, it continues to take promotional measures, provide and disseminate information and organise awareness raising activities for citizens and consumers (for example: Campaign on the Rational Use of Energy in Primary and Secondary Schools of the Province).
