Hydraulic systems
Hydraulic systems are used in many industrial processes. A great deal of energy can be saved by using new technology, systems and components. The energy efficiency of the hydraulic systems can be increased by using pumps that suit the requirements of the industry in question.
ENERGY SAVING AND EFFICIENCY MEASURES
- Improve the configuration of the pump intake valves.
- Use a double pump.
- Improve the rotor efficiency (by adjusting the blade pitch).
- Optimize the speed of the motor.
- •Normally electrical energy is used to run the hydraulic pumps.
To optimize the consumption of electricity in the hydraulic pumps in the design stage, the sizes of the pipes and the motor must be calculated correctly. Once they have been installed, if the flow circulating in the system is not optimum different energy saving measures can be taken such as adjusting the power supplied by the motor using a variable frequency drive to reduce the circulating flow.
